Research area

Professor Chih-Jen Shih's research focuses on the surface and interface engineering of nanomaterials. He is focused on uncovering fundamental physics and chemistry at nanomaterials surfaces and interfaces, and utilizing the gained knowledge to develop new engineering strategies that integrate nanomaterials into existing devices and technologies.

Chih-Jen Shih joined the Institute for Chemical and Bioengineering as a tenure-track assistant professor in May 2015.

He was born in Taiwan in 1980.

He completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering at National Taiwan University. In 2009 he obtained a position as Graduate Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, where he earned his PhD in 2014. From 2014 to 2015, he held a postdoctoral position at the Department of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University.
