Research area

With expertise in Lifecycle Optimization and Game Theory, Dr. Fabian Lechtenberg is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the SUPERlab, part of the Institute for Chemical and Bioengineering at ETH Zürich, working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Gonzalo Guillén Gosálbez. He completed his PhD at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, where his thesis addressed multi-actor and multi-criteria problems in the process industry, focusing on the potential benefits and pitfalls of Industrial Symbiosis and Circular Economy solutions (e.g. plastics recycling, water integration, ...).

Fabian’s current research contributes to the group’s work on Lifecycle Optimization Frameworks, with a particular focus on leveraging various Lifecycle Inventory data sources to explore questions around sustainable production and consumption. A major contribution in this context is the PULPO framework, which he developed and is now further evolving within the research group for a range of applications. PULPO is readily available to LCA practitioners and industrial ecologists as a Python package.

He is also involved in teaching activities within the department, including the course "Case Studies in Process Engineering" and contributes to interdisciplinary projects.
