Application

The Master's degree programme in Pharmaceutical Sciences addresses students with a Bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical sciences, the health and food sciences, biology or biomedicine.

Requirements

The DownloadProfile of Requirements (PDF, 217 KB) defines the entry requirements. It is based on the curriculum of the ETH BSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Therefore, students of this programme do not have to apply for admission. They can register for the Master’s programme as soon as 172 credits are achieved in the BSc transcript of records.

All applications are formally reviewed by the ETH Admission Office. The applications meeting the formal requirements are then evaluated by the Admission committee of the study programme. The decision about admission is based on the requirements listed in the DownloadProfile of Requirements (PDF, 217 KB).

The main requirements are:

  1. Degree qualifications
University Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent university degree, in Pharmaceutical Sciences or adjacent field comprising at least 180 ECTS credits

  2. Academic prerequisites
Basic knowledge in natural sciences: 74 ECTS
Subjects-specific knowledge in Pharmaceutical Sciences: 15 ECTS
    Practical laboratory knowledge/skills: 24 ECTS
  3. Language prerequisites
Certificate for knowledge of English on level C1 (more details on the website of the Admission Office)
  4. Performance
The candidates must have demonstrated very good performance in the preceding Bachelor’s degree programme.

Depending on the Bachelor's degree and on the covered subjects, students may need to fulfill additional requirements before or during the Master's degree programme. Admission is not possible if the additional requirements exceed a certain number of credits.
