The Institute of Inorganic Chemistry welcomes Patrick Steinegger as a tenure Assistant Professor. Prof. Steinegger will also lead a research group at Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), where he will pursue research in Radiochemistry focusing in particular into superheavy elements.

New members at the D-CHAB: Professor Kathrin Lang, currently Associate Professor at the Technical University of Munich, is appointed as Full Professor of Chemical Biology. Her research, for which she recently received an ERC Consolidator Grant, is in the interdisciplinary area of chemical biology. Dr. Patrick Steinegger, currently Group Leader at the PSI, is appointed as Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Radiochemistry. He investigates the chemical properties of the transactinides.

In the latest call for proposals of the European Research Council (ERC) 7 researchers of ETH Zurich were awarded with the ERC Advanced Grant, among them Prof. Paolo Arosio (ICB). He receives the grant for his project in the field of "molecular Velcros". In addition to membranes, they also ensure compartmentalization inside the cell. Arosio will apply the mode of action of these Velcro biomolecules to create outside of cells a new type of micro-compartments with different tailored properties.

Every year, the ETH Student Association (VSETH) awards the Golden Owl to particularly committed lecturers for their excellent teaching. In the D-CHAB, this year`s Golden Owl goes to Stefanie Dorothea Krämer, Professor of Biopharmacy (IPW). In this interview, Stefanie D. Krämer talks about her turbulent beginnings in teaching and reveals what good teaching means to her.

The young researcher is honored for his doctoral thesis in the group of Javier Pérez-Ramírez (ICB). The prize is awarded annually to students, undergraduates and doctoral candidates for outstanding work in the fields of power engineering and information and automation technology.
